Noel's Pumpkins: 2000-2002

I've combined my pumpkins from 2000 to 2002 in order to save room on the top of the page. You can see my progress as a pumpkin carver in my early years. I started carving in 1998, but didn't have a digital camera till 2000. To access the pictures, just click on the thumbnail and then use the "back" button to return.

2000

The scary pumpkins

Darth Maul was a massive hit with teenagers.  Truly, some of them were absolutely mesmerized. Darth Maul looked pretty good dark as well. This was before I did the rest of the scraping out.
I found this picture of a pumpkin carving somewhere and decided to do a similar cut-through

Pooh and Tigger

Here's Pooh and Tigger. .  A number of the kids who came were in Pooh outfits, and loved this. These looked good on the same pumpkin.

2001

The scary pumpkins

This was my first complicated pumpkin.  It took me a long time and I made quite a few mistakes.  I think it turned out better in 2002.
I wanted to do Darth Maul again.  He was again a great hit with teens.

Uncle Sam

After doing the house, I got some confidence, and, based on the 9-11 thing, I was feeling patriotic.  So I did what I thought at the time was the equivalent of brain surgery.  Unfortunately, nobody cared.  Literally, NOBODY cared or commented on this.  Uncle Sam is simply not what people are interested in on Halloween.

Scooby & Sylvester and Tweety

Scooby was of course a massive hit.  Here I did him from start to finish in less than an hour. Sylvester and Tweety was a hit as well.

2002

Improved Witch House

This is such a great pattern created by Carvingpumpkins.com.  It's always a hit.  I wasn't happy with last year's one of this so I did it over, and was generally very pleased with the results.  People loved it.

Scooby

Sponge Bob was simply a MASSIVE hit.  Nothing ever comes close. You can spend 7 hours on the fanciest pumpkin in the world, but this 40 minute pattern will simply own little kids' joy.
Scooby is always a classic. Everyone loved him.
Mike was a decent hit, but really didn't hold a candle to Sponge Bob.
